Getting there

All the lights and floors are in; in fact the skirting boards (kick boards) are also in place now in the living area - there won't be any in the shop.  Since lighting it I have decided I need to add another light to the stairs - they seem to disappear.  They were too much work for me to be prepared to lose them.  It will be a simple job; the back panel will come off, drill a hole and hang a light.

  1. Hi Em, do you have a door upstairs between the rooms as I can't find one anywhere to fit the space?

  2. No, I had the same problem. Had I wallpapered the room I would have shimmed it up and put a normal size door in but the room is painted so it would show the patching in job. I left mine as an arch between rooms and am half sort of waiting on a bead curtain from The Venerable Bead..I am being particular about the colour so it may not happen - you could consider that?? Or make a pretend bi-fold door and have it open? What are you shutting off from what?

  3. My smaller room is a bedroom so it really needs a door. Might have to try making one myself.

  4. Are your walls already finished? As I said you can fill in with a piece of wood to make it fit a normal DH door - the height is OK I think - it is just the width. It will paper over just fine. All the doors on this kit were not standard - have struggled with all of them. You could use a nice velvet curtain - people did.

    1. Yes they are already decorated, might try the curtain idea and see how it looks.

  5. Just put up a rough drape with masking tape and see how you feel about it. I think a curtain on a brass pole and rings would look right.
